A Movement of Compassion Rooted in the Gospel
Send Relief has been serving some of the most vulnerable individuals and families in Hamilton since 2023. Through our new Canadian Ministry Centre, we're creating a hub for gospel-centered compassion—a place where refugees are cared for, churches are equipped, and the love of Christ is made known.
Last year, Send Relief served more than 2.5 million people worldwide across 85 countries and 1,680 regions. Now, we're expanding that global impact by launching Canada's first Send Relief Ministry Centre—right here in Hamilton.
“The Spirit of the Lord God is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor... they will rebuild the ancient ruins; they will restore the former devastations; they will renew the ruined cities.”
— Isaiah 61:1-4
Refugees Are Arriving in Hamilton—And They Need Hope.
Hamilton has become home to thousands of refugee claimants, many of whom arrive without English, employment opportunities, or access to settlement services.
6%
of Hamilton's population arrived as refugees
11,000
refugees resettled in the city between 2011 and 2021
1 in 4
children live below the poverty line
In 2023, Hamilton declared a State of Emergency related to homelessness, opioid addiction, and mental health.
These challenges create an opportunity for the Church to respond—to meet physical needs and share the eternal hope of the gospel.
A Hub for Compassion and Multiplication
With your help, we will build a permanent Send Relief Ministry Centre in Hamilton—an integrated space that provides:
- Training and life skills for refugees through ESL classes, job education, and Canadian culture seminars
- Supportive transitional housing for refugee families in precarious situations
- A church planting incubator and theological training centre to equip and multiply new leaders
- Gathering space for worship, mission teams, and church planter assessments
Together, this hub will become a reaching, equipping, and multiplying centre with potential for global impact—serving the most vulnerable while strengthening the Church across Canada.
Charly & Ani’s Story: Hope in a New Home
When Charly and Ani arrived in Canada as refugees, they had no friends, no English, and no support. But through Send Relief, they found a community that met their needs, helped them adjust, and introduced them to Jesus.
Their family's transformation sparked a movement. Today, Send Relief is serving more than 200 refugees in Hamilton—all through word of mouth. Charly and Ani now attend The Hamilton Fellowships, where a new Spanish-speaking ministry is growing as more families come to faith.
“We began by meeting needs that led to discipleship—a beautiful picture of Isaiah 61 coming to life.”
— Kim McGibbon, Canadian Ministry Centre Director
